Door Srips
« on: 05 May 2012, 19:36:59 »

Does anyone know how to remove the door strips on an mfl Omega?

Its an MFL but had the FL strips, if that changes anything.

Thanks
Craig

F/L mouldings are held by 2 small torx at either end. Open the door you should see one near hinge pin and the other below the lock mech on the weld seam at door edge. Remove both, pull trim out slightly at doorhandle end and pull towards rear of car

are you saying you have a mfl with f/l strips ???  if so they could be held on by the torq screws as robg said or could be just glued/sikaflexed on  :y

Yes mate, its your old car! Going in for paint job but doing all the prep myself to save money.
Didn't see any screws so guessing they're glued on.
I'll give it another go and put the heat gun on them tomorrow

ahhh in that case then they are sikaflexed on, and well and truely stuck on  ;)  if you are doing the prep yourself it might be easier with a heat gun and something like cheesewire or very thin filler knife to slide behind and try and break the contact  :y
btw how is the old girl going ?

All i can say is its like removing bubble gum and no nails all in one . I used a filler knife and a long metal ruler to remove from a scrap car , they can bend out of shape quite easily if not kept close to the body panel .

Ah right cheers! The motor is running brilliantly! Got 170,000 on it now, not used any oil in the last 3 months, so very impressed. Got it de-silenced, and sounds amazing! The sqeaky steering can get a bit annoying though! Found out what it is, but for £90, I'll live with it!

Its the steering idler on the n/s I think. I sprayed it with some WD40 whilst a mate was rocking the steering for me and it stopped, but only for a bit.
Havent bothered changing it yet though, will get round to it eventually.
Think I got some anti roll bar bushes gone on the n/s/f and I've got a slight water leak, but its nothing too much really.
