The one on autotrader obviously doesn't want to sell quickly then???!! Either that or he just didn't do any research.

The one on Autotrader has been on sale for years and the seller won't budge on the price. If you want it that's what it is. He's probably spent 10k on advertising since the first time I saw it  ::) ::) ::) Other two are about right on price however for that kind of money you will still be taking risks which could cost you a fortune to put right. More and more parts are no longer available. The most critical being the plastic timing chain guides used. It won't be long and the straight 6 engine will be good for nothing more than a good coffee table  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Would have thought the chain guides can be made, no?

IIRC, the club was just coming to the end of last batch of re-manufactured chain guides.  :-\

Thats off the list then  :'( Guess the ones that are surviving are worth more in bits  :-\

There not restricted they just eventually run out of puff like most cars. Rumours were saying it went past 177 but GM were getting cold feet about the project so tamed it down a little. Thanks to 155 limit imposed by a lot of car companies the LC held on to the worlds fasted saloon for a bloody long time. It took Porsche over decade before they made a faster car. Any GM straight six 24v car will be in trouble over guides from now on. I had a set when I rebuilt the LC so I'm ok for another 100k miles. One guide recently sold for 500 quid on ebay, not bad for a 30 quid part. There has been rumours of a Finnish firm re marking them in Aluminium however I not sure how well that would work in a road engine. Problem with the standard part is it's plastic reinforced with a metal strip so not really down to making from just plastic.

The 12v straight six seems to be fairing quite well.
The guides on that one are usually good for 300k plus so they last alot better, at least in that respect.

That's why I'm building a hybrid 12v for my Diplomat - I just can't muster much confidence in the 24v engine.

I scrapped two 24v Senators six years ago. They had both done just over 100,000 miles, engines ran sweet as a nut.Didnt get a penny for them from the scrap man at the time.Wish I had took the chain guides out of them now. ::) ;D
