Cheers, Autoglass ...
« on: 09 May 2012, 20:57:26 »

For -

 - The visible black goo on the inside of my new windscreen
 - Ruining a peice of my white interior trim by embedding black goo into it
 - Obviously and visibly making a complete hash of re-fitting my scuttle
 - Not correctly sealing the rubber at the bottom of the windscreen, and as such
 - Exposing my 2-4-6 plug wells to rain water..

Their customer service was brilliant. Just a shame their technician is a ham fisted monkey. My MV6 was pristine before it went in there  >:(

I don't recall my scuttle being removed, when I had the 2.2's screen changed  :-\

Well it was perfectly fitted when it went in there - and was thrown back together when it came out...  ::)

It's got to come off to access the screen seal for correct fitting. Maybe check yours is seated correctly...?

Hi, sorry to hear about your screen, had a similar experience when they put a screen in my Mazda a few years back, I complained to my insurers LV  who advised me to contact Autoglass direct & complain directly to them. They were very concerned that I had contacted my insurers & sent a manager to inspect my screen the next day he said "it is a complete abortion of a job"he then arranged for their most experienced fitter to come & put things right, which included replacing the plastic scuttle which the first fitter had broken all the locating prongs off, and had refitted it by smothering it in black goo! s So phone & complain they are reliant on being employed by insurers they soon sorted things out for me.

A bit like Kwik Fitup, these companies work on the basis that 90% of customers will accept, or not notice, a shoddy job. They do tend to react when a complaint is made. It's their business model. Employ a complete gibbon to do the job but have some backup in place for the odd job where the customer doesn't wear it. >:(

This unfortunately is now the way of the world and it's disgusting.

like insurance companies..... 90% will not bother shopping around when their renewal goes up. the 10% that do is colatoral damage and they'll take that hit for what they gain from others.

grrrrrrr

Sorry to here about this
Posted a few months back about my windscreen replacement problems
A real test of my patience and endurance
Mainly caused by after market screens fitted by Auto Winscreens
Meant I had 3 seperate new screens fitted
The final one was provided by Autoglass and was well fitted
The 2 guy's were great and to me really new the job
I was there present all the time apart from being the Tea Boy
Can,t help thinking James you'd have been better if you could have had it fitted at home
As was all mine
As you are implying bet he was a learner

When i went to look at my 2.2 DTi it had a crack in the windscreen so he said he would get it replaced via autoglass so when i went to pick it up the exterior trim was terrible and like you mentioned about the black goo its there if you look, looks.... Professional ::)  ;D

I had Autoglass out yesterday to re-fit a screen in my Calibra after the first monkey used so much glue he'd stuck the glass to the interior trim.  The car groaned in pain over every tiny hump or bump.

Useless.

If it's stuck, force it.  If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway........
