Need a bit of help/confirmation

2 problems i need a little help with

Car threw up an engine check light, on the diagnostics it showed EGR valve , so i'm guessing it needs cleaning ? is this a common issue (i did a search but could not conclude anything)

Second problem, which i discovered when looking at the egr valve, there appears to be a breather off the top of the auto box, i found it resting on the exhaust manifold burnt through ! I guess this isn't right but i cant see where it should connect to.

can somebody help me please with some answers ?

breather pipe for auto box does not connect to anything but the opened end of pipe sits up in the engine bay,but away from any heat source.
you may need to repair or replace breather pipe. HTH

not sure about egr valve but maybe worth cleaning it,clear code,and see what happens.
