Insurance renewal: A bit of positive news
« on: 16 May 2012, 22:47:08 »

well heres a bit of good news . . .

Renewal quote came in recently for the trusty old '99 Transit Rust Bucket. Last year they stuck it up £100 or so  & this years renewal quote up another £110 :o :o :o new quote £515 >:( >:( >:( >:( This is TPFT with 9 years no claims  & I'm the wrong side of 50.

No chance of me paying that . . . the old girl is only worth £400 / £500 at best.

Just want to be road legal & to be able to carry my tools & a few bits around for work (Self employed) as the old policy was.

So onto Go Compare

Got a quote  £235. . .        that'll do nicely but before I go ahead I thought I would add SWMBO on as a named driver . Someone told me you can get quite a reduction for this :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Exactly same details but with SWMBO on as well  . . . .    Ready for this  . . . . .  .      £154 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Happy days 8) 8) 8) 8)  bit of a difference from £515   one thinks  :y :y :y :y :y

All sorted . .  policy & certificate printed from PC  . . . .  Happy Essex Boy here tonight  :) :)

Smart People Budget  . .   gotta be worth a punt at that price.  It is a no frills policy but that is all I want. I have 9 years NCD .Policy is  TPFT with protected no claims  .

Got a quote today for " The Silver Shed"  ('98   2.5 elite)   same again TPFT  with protected NCD  £199 :y :y :y

My local broker wanted  over £400 :o :o :o :o

Had to laugh  . . . on  the car's valuation the site  automatically suggested  " your vehicle is valued between £195  &£445" :'( :'( :'(
