On my home late last night (almost early morning) a deer decided to run out in front of me. I was travelling about 70 mph at the time and the thump was considerable. Deer didn't go under the car, as far as I can tell. It just vanished. Think it went over the top. Either way, when my step-father hit a deer at 30 mph in his '99 Mondeo it took the bumper, front wing and headlight with it. I thought he'd hit a brick wall. So, when I got home I was expecting the worst. Went out this morning to inspect the damage and I'm staggered. The bumper is cracked, fair enough. The near-side headlamp is a couple of millimetres too low on the inside. A bit of plastic has snapped off from under the near-side headlamp but other than that she looks good. Obviously until I get the bumper off I won't be able to tell if there is any damage behind but there are no fluid leaks.
These cars are built solid! Certainly I'd rather have a crash in one of these than my step-father's old Mondeo!
On the downside it's another job to do in my "free" time.
