Hi just wondering how much cost would be on an LPG conversion for a 3.0L elite 98 R plate would be? Car is on 130,000 miles would this affect it? Any problems you guys had?

.. add a tank and it should come in around the £700 mark. Several forum members are running this system now and it is relatively straightforward to fit and works well on the Omega.

A DIY fitting is pretty demanding though. 3 of us spent this weekend doing a 2.0 Omega and it was a solid weekend's work for 3 people.

If you're having it fitted, price and quality is very variable. £1200 to £2000+ has been quoted for esssentially the same thing. Some LPGA registered installers are good, some are cowboys so it's no guarantee of quality. :-/

This is the kit i have just had fitted to my motor. The 2 ltr i have been told is harder to work on then the V6.

i contacted the seller of this kit and his back end kits are £235 for the spare wheel tanks.

I would strongly recommend shopping around and lookin at the installations of the kits fitted should you decide to get someone to fit it for you.

it took me weeks to find and decide what to fit to my motor.

its well worth it for the money.

(the hubby is gob smacked cos he couldnt tell the difference between gas and petrol when she was going and he pushed her up to a ton yesterday. Needless to say hes well chuffed now)

mileage should not be an issue, mine was at 145,000 when DIY converted and never gave any issues.

One thing to point out, if the coil pack, leads or plugs are past their sell by date the LPG conversion will pick it up, LPG needs a good clean spark.

So long as the engine is in good nick it should not be an issue

my plugs were a month or so old so they stayed put.

Dont forget you will need to purchase gaskets and seals for the car too.

inlet manifold, and the throttle body etc...

£1500 i would say maybe but i would get references from the companey you are lookin at.
As kevin has said you get what you payfor and there are some cowboys out there.

Front end = all the bits at the front end of the car (unless it's a Beetle / Hillman Imp  ) so ecu, injectors, evaporator, all the pipes and wires, etc.

Back end is the bits that go in the back - tank and fittings, valve that fits in the tank, filler nozzle, etc.

oh one tip. make sure the kit you get has flex pipe in and not copper pipe.

Trust me the flexy stuff makes life 100% easyer then copper. i had to use copper from the tank to the filler and it was not even a metre long but that one meter took ages to sort out!
