« on: 21 May 2012, 22:27:14 »

good news and bad news today good news the mv6 passed the MOT bad news the prop shaft seal in the gear box is leaking quite badly so was advised to get it changed so my question is does anyone know the part number of the seal as the local stealer was unsure and i think he was on about the crank end . and how hard is it to change ? thanks in advance  :y

You might need to drain the transmission fluid or it might leak out the back when you prise the old seal off, not 100%. You also need to get a 30mm deep socket, a new drive flange oil seal and some transmission fluid if it needs to be drained. Might be worth the effort changing the fluid anyway, not sure.
Remove the six bolts that secure the prop from the rubber ring and the drive flange to the rubber ring. Prise the prop from the gearbox (drive flange, around 1 1/2") remove the drive flange nut, shake the drive flange off the teeth and remove . Prise off old seal, apply new seal. Reassemble everything 100NM on drive flange nut.
