ongoing seat height adjuster problems
« on: 23 May 2012, 19:36:36 »

Still didn't resolve the problem with passenger seat.
Tried to free the seat with the method in maintenance guide but the bolt fell out completely and cannot put it back in  >:(
Then tried to remove the whole seat and one bolt started to wear inside and there is no way to remove it  >:(  >:(  >:(
The seat is in top position and when I press the button for going up motor works but seat cannot go up anymore.
When the button for going down is pressed nothing happens.
The shaft under the seat cannot be turned obviously cause of tight space and seat annot be removed.
But from what I see this seems to be a faulty switch.
My idea is to remove the switch, replace the places of two middle wires and press it to go up which is down.
Pretty sure the two middle wires control the direction and by replacing them will be able to tell is it the switch.
If anyone can confirm this I would appreciate it.

would think it would be best to get the seat out try getting it out  and if having problems with the bolts put mig on ramps and locate the bolt studs from underneath the mig, drill them out and get some new ones.... as you have one bolt out and other one the shaft is going need to get them changed for your safety.

Sorry but I don't wnt to drill holes in the floor.
Bolts are holding ok, they are impossible to unscrew but that is not  a good reason for me to start driling holes in car floor yet

have you tryed taking the seat apart, taking the back cover off and removing the pivit bolts ( so the top of the seat comes off) then the side pannels can come off were the switch is, may give you more space to move about..

I can remove the switch with no problem, well unplug it, cant remove it completely cause wires to soldered to it.
Don't have the time or a place to try replacing the wires position on the switch yet.
Will try this first cause it is the simplest possible way for now (since seat bolts are stuck)

if you put your hand up into the bottom of the seat should find the plug fitting held in with a tie back then the switch should come out, shold ba able to see the plug from the front looking up above the motor.

Small update in case anyone has a similar problem.
Verified it is the switch. Unsoldered the two middle wires and replaced their places.
It worked as planned,
Seat went down, now I need a new switch and loom.
