Fitted genuine to my 2.2 around 5 years go, done 55k since. Not leaked a drop, 4 gaskets are quite cheap from Vauxhall.

People on low budgets should be even more concerned about using pattern parts, as you will, without a doubt be doing the job a lot sooner than using genuine. It will cost you more in the long run!

you guys are lucky i was quoted 500pound for 2 cover gaskets here! I ended up importing them from the UK ex ebay. What I did notice that might be of help is that if you put a straight edge down the cover they (mine) were abit distorted so i filed a couple of mm off the top so as well as straightening it up it gives more of the gasket to bite into the head,

From the look of all going on with this subject, I see varying results using the cheepo seals from the Bay and it looks to me that if you take extra care doing the job, chances are you do it well and you MIGHT get a few years out of it???
On the same note, I would guess, it would be just as easy to do a poor job using the factory parts...
For me, I wouldn't mind trying it and if I get a few years out of it, I would be happy to do it again....
I absolutely hate the fact that some companies have massively inflated prices of parts, for example, I know a guy, who knows a guy that looked into building a brand new Nissan 200sx from the parts bin, it would've cost him over £250,000 to do so!!!! The car new was about £21k, iirc??? , I just don't get it apart from the fact that they are blood sucking vultures???
Anyway, I do have a set from FleaBay and will be using them soon.... They might work for 2 months, they might even give me some years but I've had them a while and £90 of anyone's money is hard to swallow seeing as I have a very good idea of how much they probably cast to make!

4 pots, 2.2 in particular are easy peasy to do. Just minutes!

But as the V6 is a bitch to work on, I'd only want to be doing that job once!
