Skoka Fabia engine fan

Would you Adam and Eve it?

Struck a deal on the exchange of cars as per http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=103255.0;all and now the Skoda decided to play a little game of it's own.

The engine fan is permanently running. Whether engine cold or warm, engine off or on. It is a 1.4 diesel engine from 2007/08. Anybody out there with any ideas? I am guessing at the "switch" that controls it, but have no real idea to be honest.

Hoping someone has a solution for me.

Cheers.

I've specific idea, it could be temp switches in the rad, but I'd be looking at relays that might be stuck on.  :-\

Cheers Andy.

Is there any way of testing a relay, other than replacing for a known good one?

Strange, this one. Investigations were certainly pointing towards the switch in the rad. Last night I disconnected the battery, as no matter what bloody fuse I pulled out the fan continued. That's the first strange thing.

Left instructions with Mrs V6 as to what to do to connect the battery again. She called me. Battery connected. Fan started. All normal so far. Closed bonnet, fan stopped!

Drove to garage to get a diagnosis and the problem could not be replicated. Not happened since. The fan works when it needs to and goes off when it needs to. All sorted.  :)
Strange.. but sorted.

 All sorted.  :)

Quick! Get it sold!

Obviously I'd meant 'I've NO specific idea ......'  As or testing a relay,  if you can get the cover off, just see that the switch moves on & off when power is applied/removed from the coil.
I had a similar thing with my Omega in France the other year, the fans stayed on when we stopped. As it was red hot outside I didn't really give it a thought - it supposed to stay on for a while - but it was still on 10 mins later when I went back to the car. Turning the ignition on & off 'fixed it'  :-\ :-\
