Double Din don't fit ARRGGGHHH WTF!!
« on: 01 June 2012, 21:03:27 »

Right, how come whenever i try do the simpest little things it never works out!  :'( I got myself a facia plate in order to install the alpine double din headunit i have. However after removing the standard headunit and cage my cage for the alpine wouldnt fit. It seems like the original hole if a few mm to small for the alpine cage. This puzzles me as the alpine was in the seat i used to have and was a lovely little 5 min job to install.
Anyone encountered this before? Seems very bizzare  ???

I had a 2din unit in old facelift mig it fitted but the cage was very tight to put inside. Had to bend it slightly on the sides when putting it in

When I fitted my Sony double din I had to use the old cage and attack it with an angle grinder to remove the back from it! The Sony cage wouldn't fit in. I then marked up and drilled holes in the old cage and used the recessed screws that came with the radio to bolt it to the old cage. It's never coming out!

Is it it won't go back far enough? Its simply a case of tucking the connectors out of the way.

If you have the Traffic Master fitted, removing that loom (and posting it to me! ;D) can make a bit more space behind.

No nothing to do with the depth, alpine units are always a struggle anyway cause of there giant looms and ipod cables etc its that the height of my alpine cage is to large! Apparently i need a "flush fitting kit" but the chap dwn my local sound shop has one in stock i can have for nothin! Happy days, iv just to pop down tuesday and hel sort ot out for me aswell

Alpine and kenwood D/Din cages suffer this issues, they are slightly bigger so don,t fit in most D/Din facia's  ;D
You need to get a cage from a connects2 D/Din etc it comes with brackets that screw on side of head unit to lock it into new cage
