You lucky jammy buggers. Came back form a short break from Kirkbymoorside on Monday & the roads around there are excellent. No stupid speed cameras in places where they shouldn't be. Long sweeping bends & 90% smooth roads. The locals like to get there foot down & get gone (as do I). Overtaking is a pleasure as there isn't a heavy degree of traffic like where I live.
I lived that way for a while back in 1985 & not much has changed, LONG may it reign :y :y

I know the area well. My Grandmother lived in Kirbymoorside.

Some great roads in the area.

Yes, I do like the countryside up around there having been obliged to visit locations in Harrogate and Scarborough on more than one occasion - managing from time to time to absent myself from official duties to have a scope around.

I would quite happily go back to resume my travels if I could get away from this shithole. ;D ;D ;D :(

Should try Scottish A roads, just fab! Every speed camera I saw was in sensible position, ie on an approach to a town so you are slowing down anyway! So smooth too, unlike our pot hole ridden dirt tracks!

There's more to the Pickering area than good roads. Dolby, the great Yorkshire forest, is brilliant for families and couples alike. There's a Go Ape there and you can swing through the trees to your hearts content. Ideal for you Pete.

I dont think we have any fixed speed cameras in North Yorks,

the mobile ones usually have a marked police car with them, so if you get pulled you are not paying attention.
