I`ve bought two items from well established O.O.F members; the first was lost by Royal Mail; and I am positive the seller was in no way at fault.
The second 'deal' was a perfect transaction with hyper-fast delivery.  :y

However, just as a sensible precaution; I would not buy from a joined to sell 'Newbie' or from someone who hasn`t become active within our community.

Perhaps the <50 post restriction (which applies to selling whole-cars) might be a fair and applicable measure to also apply when selling parts?Yes, it may alienate some, but it might protect both the 'innocent buyer' and the reputation of the forum.  :y

Not a daft idea :y

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told a long time ago that the sent item is your responsibility and your property until it is received at the other end.

Has this dispute been resolved yet?

>50 post restriction is a fair idea however assorted sellers here have substantially more than that already.  A 50 limit will only restrict the 'new' sellers....

Incedentally, some posters to this thread who are currently taking the moral high ground are also no strangers to being the baddies of previous 'trade disputes' on this forum (and elsewhere).......     ;)

No but, I have tried to contact the seller via PM and email with a view to resolving the dispute.

Awaiting a  response.

I think a seller should be made to provide a proof of address to one of the admins before they are allowed to sell.

definatley no name and shame. it was a private sale and should remain private between buyer and seller. i bought something off ebay on the 23rd of feb, didnt arrive after 10 days so emailed seller and cut a long story short things got quite heated. item finally arrived on friday 4th april. sent 2nd class. post marked 24th feb. had to send 1 hell of an apology. get in touch with royal mail and see what they say.

A similar thing happened to me, not such long timescales but I had demanded a refund, no response, did nothing else for a couple of weeks, small amount of money then it arrived :-[ Sent an apology.
Thing is I had bought the same item from a shop as I needed it. :(

Whenever I have sold an item on ebay I have always got the receipt from the post office, at least then you have evidence of posting.
