We do have problems, not saying we don't. But when critisizm comes from the land of justice for those that can afford it, I do tend to be a bit dismissive of it.

I think the point is that Americans have traditionally thought of the UK as a very civilised place.That it didnt have the type of problems they had in some parts of the U.S.
Seems that maybe its now dawning on them that we actually do.We are no longer the stiff upper lipped/pinstripe & bowler/ cricket on the village green society that they perhaps thought we were.

I have to agree. In my experience Americans are much more polite and civil to each other, maybe it is because, they don't if your packing a piece.

Personally, I hate hearing badly behaved yobs, being aggressive, rude and swearing at the top of voices and their children are even worse. 

Go to any weekend battleground town centre and see the uncouth being drunken and uncouth. Of course it is a minority, but it is a sizable one. 

I don't think EmerCorrieEnders help with GloomEnders by far the worst IMO. My life used to be free from these absymal programs, once I got divorced from my first wife, but where I get invited round to my neighbours, most Thursday nights for a meal, they have them on in the background.

In my  (admittedly limited) experience of the U.S I felt safer walking around in New York City at midnight than I would in almost any town in this country. It didnt used to be like that.
