As they are stored electronically now, I believe the bit of paper is just a receipt.  :y

It's just a flimsy bit of A4 paper for those that haven't seen them.

A friend of mine who runs his own garage said that they are cheap and nasty but take far more ink to print so he has to replace the ink more often and supply the paper they are printed on so more expense for him and less for the ministry....typical cheap skates....

But did he also tell you that he has always had to buy the certificates from the ministry in the past, plus (going back some time) the stamp, safe for the stamp etc ;)

I doubt there's an awful lot in it cost wise TBH, possibly even cheaper now if using the right printer and buying cheap paper ;)

The Ministry of Transport make sweet FA on MOT's, it's up to the testing station as to what they charge.

As of the 23rd of june 2010 i believe that  vosa increased the ...slot...charges to garages from £2.00...to £2.50...each m.o.t.  so i believe that they do make money on the garages   ????????????

Its not a certificate. Its a receipt. The 'certificate' is held electronically.

You are correct it is a receipt.....but the ministry do charge for each slot issued so they do make money on the garages that do m.o.ts.

Advisories are stored online and its to prevent a owner selling a car hiding bad failures to an unsuspecting buyer
