2.2 auto with lpg.
« on: 19 June 2012, 07:55:32 »

Having been a Ford man for years and falling in love with my 2.5V6 Tourer (weekend & towing use), an LPG'd 2.2 auto saloon has caught my eye,so thinking of selling my current '04 Mondeo 1.8 work car. On paper, the Omega will be a far more enjoyable work drive (M4 Jct 10 - Canary Wharf) aswell as being a bit more economical. Whilst i'm still learning a lot about the V6 petrol, I know bugger all about the 2.2 nor the auto gearbox.
The car is an '03 with 116k miles, new cambelt and decent history. Any advice on what to look for with this engine/box away from the usual Omega issues. Have done a site search but can't seem to find much. Any advice much appreciated fellas. :y

Details of the LPG install, if its mixer walk away, needs to be SGI. Make sure water pump was changed with the belt, other than that 2.2's are very reliable.

With my 2.2, on a good run I could get around 27mpg on gas, compared to V6's barely cracking 20mpg from reports here.

LPG has gone up, but fuel was around 11p a mile cost wise.

Found the info from the installer as below:

Make VAUXHLL
Model OMEGA
Registration no. DN53 MTJ
Vin No WOLOVBM6931133986
Year 2003
Engine Capacity 2200CC
Mileage 67959 Miles
LPG system and tank(s) details
LPG system STAG 300-4 Plus
Reducer ZAVOLI ZETA N

Any advice on if this is a good/bad system would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Well, the Stag system has been widely used on a DIY basis by lots of forum members. It's only as good as the fitter, of course, but rest assured that if you have problems there'll be someone on here who can help.

As Kev has said, Stag system is up to the job if the fitter has done a decent job :y

But fear not, even if he hasn't there's enough knowledge to put it right if we need to ;)
