Does your car have a personality effect on you ?
« on: 11 April 2008, 13:19:51 »

Silly question I know but...

Do you come over all different depending what you drive ?

In the Omega I'm 60mph careful cruiser on the motorway, going round the cliff bends road at slow pace enjoying the view, all is at peace and there is joy in the world...

Mondeo on the other hand...

If I'm not the limiter or the Traction light is not flashing I'm not trying hard enough, every car on the road is there to be past, The sound track is either the radio turned up to full with the sub thumbing my spleen out or the windows open so I can hear the engine, exhausts and tyre noise :) and cliff bends road is my personal play ground

It's got the stage when car pooling for work people check to see which car I'm going in :)

Absolutely..(I mean really have effect)

And as far as I see the bimmers have very negative effects on their drivers  ;D

And from the time I have a dark color omega I become fastidious

about  driving a clean car ;D

No, I find that the music I listen to does....and what mood I am in.

I am always in Merc baiting mood and enjoy out cornering front wheel drive cars and watching them fight the understeer......other times is cruse on, stereo up, sunroof open and sun glasses on....

Yup.  Trouble is, every car I've owned puts me in the mood to be on the ragged edge ::)

Seriously, its my mood that adjusts my style.  eg, going to work, I cruise generally.  If its been a shitty day, get some rock n roll on the stereo, and thrash the car.  More fun when I had a manual, but I was arriving home after 25m drive absolutely knackered ::)

Some days I may just tottle along, other days, I may get 'near' the speed limit ::).

The day I ripped the sump plug from the tractor at, err, 60mph officer, along a country lane, I was in a very bad mood just before it happened (even worse one after) ::)

Ah yes, one of my bad traits I'm afraid.  But I just can't help it.  I try not to. Honest ::)

Oh yes, it gives me a feeling of superiority over bmw drivers. I sit there thinking how much they paid for there bmw and how much it costs them to run, I think I must be smuggest git in the traffic queue.

Of course they all think I am a poor git.

I find the speed dependant volume is a really bad disincentive to slow down when in a "loud music, drive fast" mood.

 ::)

I do tend to cruise around in a more relaxed style in the Omega. Still don't hang about but it makes rapid progress with no fuss so why thrash it?

The Westfield and Mrs. KW's MX-5, on the other hand, just beg for a good spanking, and normally get what they ask for. ::)

A Porche pulled out in front of me - so I booted it until he put his foot down, I reckon if it was clear I'd have passed him.

If someone pulls out and it is clear I'll pass - even if towing - this terrifies them - I think they may get the message next time. ;D ;D

I used to bait a 924 when I had the Sunbeam - that was fun!

FWD/RWD with a really good short RWD chassis you can go past most FWD cars limits, especially when you are in front and FWD needs tto accelerate to stop oversteer and you are trailing throttle for the same ;D.

Have I ever posted the story about an idiot trying to overtake when my car was faster - on blind corners and when my car was warm and tyres warm I could leave him for dead but played with him for a while.

Also when I'm in bad mood the story ends up with a part change as I damage somethin..

Only time I've ever seen you on the road was going up the M6 to the lakes last year.  That was a nice gentle cruise (didn't dare speed up, as mine was a bit tail happy with all that weight and duff shocks).
