so I took my beloved MV6 for it's MOT on friday.
(she's been stood six months due to work commitments, and me only being able to afford to run the van)
Picked up the fail sheet this morning.
bad news:
Number plate lamp out.

Exhaust leak from front of exhaust (inside engine bay)
Rear wheel bearing (same one that I replaced last year

)
Lower ball joint on front suspension
Oh - and a water leak from back of engine :.((
Good news:
The garage which did the rear wheel bearing is going to do it again - for a fixed price of £200!!
Despite the fact it took them 2 days, and about 14 hours last time.
I've got a nasty feeling that the core plugs have come out, because the car was stood all winter outside, and it hit -15 here on a couple of occasions,
but will pressure test tomorrow when I get the car back, cos I could be lucky and it's just USS enterprise or one of the pipes.
Lower ball joint - I'm guessing that's the wishbones, and I have the set that were replaced last year, ready to install with new bushes and swap over.
It's the exhaust leak that's worrying me - I haven't had a good look but the blowing started at the same time as the water leak - is frozen coolant likely to have cracked the engine so it blows? or is it more likely to have damaged the exhaust manifold or gasket?
Is there an easy way to tell where it's blowing? will stuffing a rag in the end of the exhaust cause smoke to come out of the hole, without doing further damage?
