AVG conti
« on: 29 June 2012, 09:47:26 »

Morning, As some will have read my thread on avp. Anyway it was already loaded and seemed to be ok so i thought i would leave it for the free period then change it once it ran out. Stupid boy I am, avp has now locked my computer up and i cannot unistall it as it is telling me it is doing a upgrade and will have to wait. the trouble is this has been running for over 6 hours now and it will not allow me to do anything else. I have managed to diasable it scanning but cannot remove.

HELP.. Is they a way i can remove this, please bear in mine i am not computer savy. :P

If I need to I will run the computer over to somebody close to me if that helps and of course beer tokens will follow.

cheers Paul.

try starting in "safe mode" .. which will prevent AVG loading.. you may then be able to uninstall it from "control panel"

To enter "safe mode" you press the "f8" key while the system is booting... but before the hard drive starts to be read ..

If you need to "read up" on safe mode before trying it .. some info here ..

I had a similar problem getting rid of AVG.

In the end, I just went into "C" drive and deleted the file then used a freebie registery cleaner to clear up anything left over.

Might not be for the purist computer experts on here but it worked  ;)

Tbh, you are better off trying Entwood and Rob's way first mate  :y

If not, its a case of opening "C" drive / program files then deleting that file.

Iam at present typing this on my phone.
Could somebody type exectly what i need to type in from the c:\.. I ask this because i have tried to get into c:\programs but it will do it, probaly because iam typing it wrong

followed instructions  and it just comes up with "cannot delete avgadvisorx.dll access is denied"
make sure the disk is full or write protected and the file is currently not in use

Start the computer in "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" mode and delete the file the old school way.
