Ever Slept in your Omega?
« on: 12 July 2012, 10:36:27 »

I have to fly abroad on Sunday night - so for Billing I've been looking at not doing a tent and jus-t kipping in the car for a night!

I'm only 5'8 and a bit - has anyone ever put the rear seats down, put something behind that nasty metal ledge and slept there? Or can the rather firm FL MV6 cloth really recline suitably for a night's kip?

Opinions sought!

Slide legs through the centre arm rest with body in boot blanket over legs and no one will know your in the car asleep ...job done  ;)

Not for claustrophobics  :(

Take phone with you in case you get stuck in the boot  ;D :y

I'm guessing saloon?
Just about enough room on the back seat if you can sleep curled up.
Plenty of room in an estate for a blow-up airbed. :y

In the front, the leather seats in an MV6 aren't suitable for me to sleep in - not so much because of the firmness,
but simply because they aren't big enough (for me) to find a comfortable position.
The last time I was forced to sleep in the front seat (boot was full) - I ended up *under* the car.

It's a saloon. I'll give these ideas a 'try'!  :)

Ill be doing EMD's preferable option!

It's actually pretty comfy, and will be more so with a decent amount of padding!

The saloons boot never fails to amaze me (I know it's no estate, but I'ts taken all my gear and two gazeebos, leaving the cabin untouched!

Slept in my old carltons front seats yrs ago , they were leather and too firm for me to get comfy on as well . At least if your in the boot area you can lay reasonably flat and stretch legs out .. mind you the back seat does look roomy on the saloon but my knees would lock up if i had to sleep with them bent up  :(

This may be a longer term plan!

Coming back from France about 8yrs ago, unable to find a hotel, we slept in the MV6. Stuff on back seat, so slept in front seats. MV6 sports leather.

Never again. Ever.

I wonder if the cloth seats are more acceptable for bedding  :-\

I was forced to by circumstances .. not the best nights sleep I've had !! ... Drivers seat fully forward then max recline with headrest removed, it gets nearly horizontal  but you bang knees on the steering wheel :(  seat back to miss the wheel and you can't recline it as far .. so sleep at a funny angle... :(

Bob Dent spent a very comfortable (he said) night in the back of his estate when his tent leaked at The Lakes a few years back ...  :)

-10C, Polish Ukrainian border. It was an estate but could only use the front seats due to the amount of cr*p swmbo's essential travel items on board. ::)

6'2" and no real complaints :y wouldn't want to live in one though ::)

If you've a flat fold front passenger seat kip in the back with your feet up :y back seat well comfy :y

I've frequently slept in mine, although mainly catnaps... As Entwood suggests was the best option for me but I didn't recline the seat all the way, then slept using my arm/elbow as a pillow on the rear door (old trucker's trick ;)) :y

I should help, my sleep was not helped by the fact we'd parked next to a refrigerated unit, and that the (French Autoroute) layby only had a hole in the ground, making me concerned about 'morning rituals'
