rear springs
« on: 18 July 2012, 13:21:03 »

Hi guys just had my 2002 2.6 elite saloon mot and it's failed on a broken rear spring. The garage has given me a price of £229 for 2 springs. They only sell them in pairs I'm told. Is this price right I'm told it's high because it's got self levelling but I thought that's was in the shock not the spring. If this is right does anyone know if they are available cheaper? Cheers mark

there a lot cheaper one's from other companys, all depends on the type and manufacture of them and what you need, had a quote for min last year and parts and labour was £135 with vat so would shop around.. and breaks and suspension should be changed at same time.

Where is the spring broken.  If its just the tail then this is no longer an MOT fail unless the spring is able to escape at full droop.  Recent change in MOT regs.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

I've just moved from Framlingham to Norwich, so not far away.  Also a few other OOFers near Ipswich, so you're not alone mate.  :y

S/L springs are a little pricey, unfortunately, but I fitted normal ones with my S/L shocks with no ill effects ;)
