Sublime music Nick. :y
I wish I had taken more of an interest and learned more about classical music when I was younger. ;)

Ah, yes!  :y  :y

Who could fail to like, especially the familiar theme which kicks in around three and half minutes in?

I have to post this one too.
My Mum plays the piano and so as a kid I listened to her playing various pieces of music. She loves Rachmaninoff which I suppose rubbed of on me.

Good stuff, Darth. :y

If your mum likes the piano, I highly recommend Simon Trpceski and his rendition of Debussy's Arabesque. So good, I bought it on iTunes!  :y

My Mum's cousin is a Music Master and plays the Organ at St. Pauls. He came up from Poole in Dorset a few weeks back for my Nanna's 90th Birthday. Anyway My Mum and he were on the piano making it talk, we all sat there in awe of them both.

A few of what they played..

I can play part of this myself but can't read music so forget  :'(

I am not worthy to be on same thread!  ;) ;D

You can't beat the Moonlight Sonata. And, don't tell the others, I do like the organ - the king of which is this:

I have just had a quick look on you tube for my Mum's first exam piece. How she plays it fills you up as it feels emotional if that makes sense. This guy starts off playing it how my mum does, but for me then goes off to fast by far... Need to record my Mum and then post it up to see what you think.

Wish I could find a better quality sounding recording of this tune  :'(
Love it though all the same.

Cheers NIck. :-*

Say what you like about the Europeans - and I do from time to time - but there's an openness of culture there which puts much of this country to shame. That location in Holland has been the venue for many such gatherings in celebration of such great music.

I'm quite fond of Handel and that piece, composed around 1710, is typical is the richness of early 18th Century opera.  Needless to say, I enjoyed that immensely -especially with Ms De Niese (Christie) singing; it was, to my mind, a consummate piece of musical prowess so typical of that great composer.

The divine Cecilia Bartoli gives this same piece additional gravitas by delivering much more measure - it's also an interesting comparison of not only the difference in musical style of each artist but also between the differing register of each voice,  Soprano -v- Mezzo Soprano.
