Honda Rebel CMX250
« on: 13 April 2008, 17:11:41 »

Next month i plan to book a bike test course, from CBT to Test, was thinking of a summer toy, something along the lines of this:

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/bikes/advert+search/Ne-2-4-7-8-27-64-104-133-146,N-13-118/advert.action?R=200814306962375&distance=55&postcode=NN13+6ER&channel=BIKES&make=&model=&min_pr=&max_pr=2000&max_mileage=

I like this shape of bike, as you can tell at 23 i have an different taste in cars / bikes. Often get strange responces / looks when i tell people i drive an Omega!

Not a fan of the sports bike, hunched over type. Much prefer the cruise r type.

Was thinking of the above 250 to get used to biking on, enough poke to  keep up, but nothing scary!

Any thoughts?

Hmm looks like a 1970s/80s learner bike

Read a bit more - bigger version of the CD200 engine - that was around pre Superdream.

Hmm similar power to my first bike a GP100, if you are light it would be OK as a first bike.

I reckon 80mph flat out but buzzy.

This might not be powerful enough - but OK as a first one.

I had a CD200 as a third bike once - sold when I got a GSX250 road worthy.

Yes it was buzzy

i only weight 10st, so 250 should be plenty fast enough.

Hired a 50cc Scooter in Miami, got that to 40mph...

You are a dreamer Martin, a GSX250 were definately not buzzy.
I had my Dad's as soon as I pasted my bike test at 17.
I had an RD 125 come past me like I was standing still, so within two weeks of owning it I had swapped it for a 350 YPVS now they were and still are a buzzy bike. ;)

I have seen there bikes been used for road testing in the Motor Cycle News.
They have hundrds of bikes in there showroom, maybe worth a ride up and try the different types they have to help you make your decision. :y

Aghhh!

You have misread the CD200 was buzzy it had a 360 degree crank, the GSX250 was 180 deg crank AND balancer shaft and would get to 100 on a long straight.

THe Suzuki TSCC Twins were nice but not that fast - but I did end up with a GSX600.

I had a few GS250Ts nice town bikes but not that quick, however they were cheap due to the learner laws

An extremely GOOD idea bikes are a very good way to travel. And a 250cc is good enough . i,ve travelled 30.000 miles on one no problems
that was on a honda 250 superdream  :y made me a better driver [defensive]and much more aware of others [prats] by the way a 125t honda would rev up to 16.000rpm with new plugs  ;D ;D ;D

I was 10 stone when I was a teenager.

ANy my GP100 was quick there are a few ex 125 owners who would remember ;D ;D ;D ;D

Lets say - take the quickest version (1978-80 disc braked model) of the quickest 100 (GP100) and tune it
