My '98 2.5 has done this twice now.
First time was on Sunday first thing, she turned over for maybe 30 - 45 seconds before finally firing as if all was right.
Second time was yesterday evening having stopped for petrol she did the same again.

I've looked through the forum a bit and from what I can see it looks like a suspect crank sensor.

Can anyone confirm my suspicion?

To confirm yourself, get codes read, or do a paperclip test (see HowTos), and look for a code 19.

Opel OEM says P/N 90508499 but when I look on ebay it says Vectra only - different part number for the Omega?

Got paperclip test done, but no code 19.
Just code 31 flashed out 3 times.
Engine was not running because it would not start at all today, so 31 was expected.

I would guess that a code 19 might have come up had I got her to start?

Code 31 normal - engine not running.  Dodgy crank sensor doesn't always throw a 19.  Still think you are right and its a dodgy one.

You need to check if your crank sensor has a square or "oval" electrical connector - most probably for a '98 it will be an "oval" one.  Think the part no is 90492061- no doubt someone else will confirm or otherwise

I've had a good look at the FAQ section and can see that being a '98 model it should be an oval plug.
I do need to sure weather I have a Siemens or Bosch sensor fitted though, so a mate is going to drop in this evening to have a look for me - I still dont have the mobility to get under there as yet.

I'm hoping for Bosch - they're cheaper!

Fitted and sorted.

The old one came out of the bay complete with no problems.  It says in the how to that this is virtually impossible assuming it's the original, so I'd guess this isnt the first replacement.
The one that came out was a genuine siemens part too so in 90,000 miles she's gone through two.
