Most of them are cheap shite that fails after a couple of uses IME.

I was trying to pump a trailer tyre up a month or so ago. Needed 60 PSI and the one on my "jump-start" battery pack thing hit a brick wall at about 50 PSI despite the pressure gauge and marketing BS claiming it was good for over 200 PSI. ;D Gave up when the motor started making nasty smells. ::)

Actually, I think the nicest one I've come across was an old Porsche one IIRC.

Yep, that is my experience too.

Too true Kevin.  you do get what you pay for in most cases.

My mates on his battey jump pack is brilliant, I bought one (a cheap one) and it was naff regards the pump, forgot to charge it and it was then completely stuffed, so never actually got any use out of that one.  :-\

Any one got one of these type, are they any better?

Probably find it's the usual tat inside with a blingy digital display bolted on.

I have an old one that I got FOC using Esso vouchers years ago.  Its been hammered, dropped and used loads of times including inflating near flat tyres.  Its still going strong :y

I have used the ones built in to battery jump packs and found them to be generally krap, as was stated earlier in other posts

Just bought one of these.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLACK-DECKER-AIR-COMPRESSOR-CAR-TYRE-PUMP-MAX-11-BAR-/190696244693?pt=UK_Air_Tools_and_Compressors&hash=item2c6661c5d5

But paid (as below) over £25 in costs from America and still saved money.

Items:                                   GBP 38.05
Shipping & Handling:             GBP 15.23
     ------
Total Before Tax:                   GBP 53.28
Estimated Tax To Be Collected:      USD 0.00
Import Fees Deposit              GBP 10.66
     ------
Order Total:                              GBP 63.94 (EBay £95.44) :-\

I know its an exspensive extravagence but so what (at least our lass will enjoy checking the tyres in future (bless her  :P))

The B*D one I have bought carries enough charge to inflate 4 tyres from scratch they reckon.

I've had one of these in my wirk truck for the last 2 years: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ring-RAC700-Compressor-4X4-Car-Tyre-Tire-Inflator-Pump-RAC640-RAC650-Replacement-/251119646021?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3a77e5b545 .

It works well, is quiet, and will inflate a large, flat tyre in about 5 minues without any problems. The lead is long enough to pump any of the tyres on the car.
