Another seat question
« on: 10 August 2012, 18:02:53 »

I have just replaced my back seat and I cannot get the two back pieces to lock into position. I can do one side or the other but not both together.  Do I need to align theses somehow ? and if so how do i do this.

I presume that if the front seat wont go up or down that the motor is dead. The old seat I took out was working fine and when I fitted the new one it doesnt. I have connected the coloured connectors back together.

cheers Paul.

It helps if you push the back bolster (nearest the Door) under the rear seat back at the same time your pushing the seat backwards to locate the pins, do one side at a time then lock the pins down.

Rear seat takes a bit of fine tuning :y  loosen the torx bolts on the centre hinges slightly and basically tweak it until it's right. If you loosen both sides, line the seats up and latch the centre dead bolt to hold it in place then tighten the hinge bolts. If the top dead bolt slides home then the back is lined up :y You can also move the securing latch, just pop out the square cover on the boot trim above it to get at the bolt :y
If the release button is down, it won't latch regardless of what you do. :-\

Sounds like the cable is sticking :-\ is the top deadbolt in the release position :-\ give the sest a thump with a hammer just above the stuck latch whilst pressing the button down :y if no luck then try...

Just to add, if you pop out the 4 black clips from the arm rest trim, you can the unbolt the arm rest which will hopefully give you a bit more room to peel the seat cover back do you can get at the latch end of the cable :-\  you should the be able to release it permanently :y

Loosen the bolts, close the seat so it's latched correctly, then tighten the bolts in that position. No...? :-\

You cant get to the bottom bolts when the seat is in the upright position

Estate seats have a deadbolt across the top and a safety catch on the centre hinge it's this that has jammed? :-\

You can fold the flap behind the seat back but only so far,(springs quite strong).

It is possible to undo the hinge bracket from the floor but fiddly with the seat in position :-\
