Electric Auxiliary Water Pump.
« on: 17 August 2012, 16:38:56 »

Have tested the above when off the car and pump works.
Is there anyway of checking when fitted back on to the car?
When should it kick in?
Thanks

Are you talking about the one on the radiator?

If so, it will run when the engine is above the temperature at which the fans start to run, and the engine is stopped.

So, turn off air con/climate, then run the engine until the fans start running, switch off, and the pump should then start, and run on until the fans stop once more.

If it's the "winter pack" pump by the coolant reservoir, then you need switch off the engine, switch the climate panel back on and turn the temperature up high. It will start pumping to release residual heat in the engine.

thanks for the explanation, as I did not realise that the pump under the header tank was the winter pump.

I will check the other pump at the weekend as detailed
