Global petrol price rankings
« on: 19 August 2012, 00:14:55 »

According to Bloomberg's Gas Price Ranking, Britain has the tenth most expensive petrol in the world!  :(  Sadly for Cem, Turkey comes second behind Norway!  :'(

Apparently to fill up a 39 gallon tank in Norway it will cost $394.68!!  :o  However in Venezuela it costs $3.51!!!  :o :o  Lucky Venezuelan's!!  8)

Although The Philippines is at number 47 in the rankings, because of the low wages, you will need to use 70% of your daily wage to buy a gallon of petrol, whereas in Britain we use 7.4%! No wonder they all drive mopeds in The Philippines!!  ;)

There is me, trying to use petrol :o

The hire car companies here (and elsewhere) have a great scam - when you pick up a car, it has a full tank that you pay extra for, and supposedly return it empty. Now a clapped out Focus will do 550km to a tank, going by fuel computer. I will do half that by the time I hand it back. I bet the next hirer pays for a full tank as well. And the hire companies cream that profit  >:(

I've always been given a hire car with a full tank, you just return it with a full tank  :-\

That used to be the norm, or pick it up empty, return with however much you like.

But I think a lot of the hire car places have cottoned on to this way of making more - when I was in Spain, I paid €60-70 (can't remember exactly) for a full tank of diesel in a 1.3CDTi Corsa. I did about 250 miles, returned in back 2/3rds full (despite driving from La Manga to Alicante in 3rd gear to use fuel), so thats a straight extra €40 profit they have made...
