facelift drivers door lock / catch mechanism
« on: 19 August 2012, 09:21:10 »

I have a problem where my drivers door won't close. I think the mechanism is broken.
Is this fairly simple to change?
And does anyone fairly local to Hampshire / Surrey / Berks have a spare one I can purchase please?
Thank you.

Does the door close fully, but not latch? Or does in not quite close fully? If latter, check the latch hasn't come over, making it think its shut.

Hi,
The door closes fully but does not latch.
I can push a screwdriver in to simulate the door striker but the latch won't stay closed.
As soon as I remove the screwdriver it springs open again.

OK, mech needs replacing then. Think I have one in my garage, but I'm about 1800 miles away ;D

Cheers for the confirmation. I thought it would be a case of replacing it
Are they easy to swap out?

yes door latch u/s, did mine recently, bit of a fiddle to do but quite straight forward as long as you don't move the outer door handle adjuster. got mine up from silverlake at botley, about 40 quid i believe.i'm on the hampshire/wiltshire border if your stuck.

Just removed door card and it does look reasonably straight forward.
Thanks for the offer of assistance though.....
