Thank you

Strange then, defenitly CDX and face life, but no HDI headlights. They look well aged and original too. I shall investigate further.

If the HID`s have been replaced with "standard" lights you`ll need a TechII session to re-program the MID to get rid of that fault message

Update - the adjuster wheel does not seem to adjust the headlights. Pointing at garage door and no movement detected.

100% - they have. Standard filament halogen lamp in them and the colour temp is too warm for a discharge lamp.

Dash lighting dims ok - it is the headlight height adjuster that does not work.

I also note that the holding onto gears does not happen form a cold start, only once warmed up.

I have heard from Kevin and will fit in a trip when time allows. Been digging a little deep however.

On the lights, this wiring does not look original to me, any comments?

With the Lamda and throttle position error, I have discovered a crack across the top of the exhaust manifold. Could this be part of the problem? Itis blowing as you can feel hot gas escape when running. Clearly I will have to change it.

Fair enough, just need to work out how to get the level adjustment to work now! Are there any wiring diagrams available anywhere?

There are 2 multiple connectors on the lights but without knowing what does what it is hard to test.

I guess whoever changed them in the past tried to get manual level adjustment as the rotary switch is there on the dash.

Went to local scrap yard and found 2.2, but removing the heat shield I found:

Clearly a common problem then?

Did manage to get some other useful bits however :-)

If you are in bournemouth, trents have a v6 with HIDs still fitted in there yard (pick a part), You will have to remove them yourself, but I doubt they would cost much.

With your present set-up you won`t. Retroffiting HID`s to a basic spec (GLS or CD) you keep the existing level motor for the manual adjustment. In your case it appears the previous owner has fitted standard projectors + level motors and swapped the main lightswitch over. Manual adjustment will not work as the loom for HID`s is different in that it encompasses the front & rear level sensors and the HID ECU makes automatic level adjustments via signals received from both of them. You may get the auto-adjust to work by fitting the HID level motors and ensuring both sensors are operating correctly, failing that it`s a case of getting the headlights adjusted to an MOT standard and leaving them at that.

You could check to see if you have a level sensor mounted on the passenger side wishbone to make sure someone just hasnt added an X to the CD!
