« on: 18 April 2008, 10:00:19 »

Hi all,

I am planning to by a set of Axle stands. Does 2tonne stands suffice or should I get a set 3tonne ones ?

i have a set from mechine mart and have been told they are great. i have no concerns going under the car with them.

under no circumstances buy the folding ones. they are quite frenkly dangerous!

I have two sets of 2 tonne stands and i have used them over and over again so i would say that 2 tonne ones would do fine  :y

Yep, 2 tonnes is ample. If you can get the rachet type i find them even better, but that is your own choice.

i also have a set of rechet ones but i am not comfortable with working under the car with them. i only use them when i want to raise the car but not work under them.

its personal choice really. i just dont like the thought of having a car land on top of me more so when i tend to be out working on th car on my own.

Is this a good buy?

If you can afford it I would go for a bigger jack.
