Sadly, too true.

On the last one, the accusation just has to be made NOT proven and it stays on Mary's job record for life, with no appeal. She will have difficulty in getting a job at any other school.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

The same applies if a child complains they have been hit by a teacher.

so true. reminds me of when my little girl fell over at school and had a small cut on her leg, the school ring swmbo to tell her she had fallen over and could swmbo come in to stick a plaster on because they weren't aloud to :o
so swmbo went to school fuming stuck on plaster and asked them why they couldn't do it, to which they reply that it's not in there policy to stick plasters on because if the child is allergic to plasters they may get sued :o :o

I've never herd of anything so stupid in all my life, I thought they were there to protect kids :(

I remember clearly the day our history teacher put the class bully (Olsen) in his place after he misbehaved.

He made the lad stand on one leg in a waste paper bin. The other leg he had to describe circles whilst patting his head with one hand. The other arm he had to hold straight out with a book in it.

Each and every time he faltered in doing as he was told the teacher hit him with a broken wooden chair leg. By the end of the lesson he was blubbing silently and was never the same when it came to bullying after that.

Bring back the cane  >:( Never did us any harm and was a deterrent to misbehaving a second time for most .... some lad kept pulling his hand away while up for the cane and thought it was funny in front of his class mates , he was grabbed by the scruff and took to the adjoining room where he got 6 of the best ... he wasnt laughing when he came back  ::) ;D

Yep. I remember our geography teacher had a unique way of dealing with one class member who was a little too cheeky for his own good. One time he had to participate in the lesson perched on top of a 6' high filing cabinet and we all got to check his work afterwards and vote on whether it was neat enough. ;D  Another time his belongings, shoes and most of his clothes got defenestrated and he had to go down from the 2nd floor of the building to retrieve them. Said teacher was one of our favourites, not only for his geography teaching and classroom antics but for his sideline in distributing pirated ZX Spectrum games. :y

I bet he'd be out on his butt these days. :(

Some of our male teachers were excellent shots with the blackboard eraser (a wooden block with strips of felt on one side for wiping the chalk off the blackboard).

One soon learned not to turn your back on teacher, a 1lb lump of wood hitting the wall/desk beside you woke you up and left you spluttering in a cloud of chalk dust.........

I had almost forgotten about those.

We had a teacher of French (Davidson) and he used to use a broken chair leg as a memory improvement aid. Scenario. Each night you had to learn about 20 new words of vocab. Next day before class started a quick test ensued and anyone who couldn't remember was struck on the HEAD. Even now I can remember the French for window but can't wear a hat!!

We had a science teacher (or master, as they were called), Joe Schofield. His favourite form of punishment was the thin edge of a metre rule hard across the knee cap. Did some damage that. His pride and joy was his rover car (P5 I think). At lunchtime, as our school was a five minute walk from town, was to go in and do a bit of shoplifting. We got chased out of Lewis' and legged it round the back. There, all on it's own and out of the way (so no one could damage it, no doubt) was Joe Scho's rover. We wrecked it. Pulled off the wing mirrors and threw them at the windscreen, kicked dents in it...the lot.
After that the crack across the knee didn't feel quite so bad. :)
