Took my Omega to Symes from OOF in Cowley in Oxford today :y

he took the entire glovebox out to see if we could find the Heater Problem, and as to why when you turn the heating from Hi to Lo and back again, it wont go HOT, obviously there was nothing wrong in the glovebox in the VAC pipes setup after all! DOH!!
forgot who told me to take it out on here to see?

swapped pipes around and back again on the HBV and still heating isn't sorted, so i have ordered a brand new HBV to see if that will cure it?
its the only thing left isnt it? just cant fathom out WHY it goes hot and then wont go back to hot !

anyway, so then while checking Vac pipes at the front of the engine, Symes noticed one of my pipes broken and not connected so done some re-routing,
Symes.. can you clarify what you did again mate? i forgot! lol

as for the knock sensor problem! here ya go!! ta da!
obviously not bullet proof, it was caught and stuck in with the cambelt and had melted hadnt it Syme?

so, error code 16 knock sensor signal 1 has now gone! hooray!
the car also goes like shit off a shovel because of it, and the vac pipes that are now working have given me extra welly! yay!  :y

i`m sure Syme will comment in a minute, but again he has impressed me with his knowledge and patience with listening to me whinge on and on all day ha ha ha

cheers buddy!

We told you to check the knock sensor cable, and where it was likely to be damaged ;). And I repeat, the sensor itself is robust, and doesn't need replacing. Its *always* cable damage.

I've also told you before, you have a vac problem in your heating. We've proved this ages ago.

Waste of money

I wouldn't expect it to be (assuming its the same fault as 2 or 3 years ago). As you haven't fixed the fault.

but i think you told me take the glovebox out didnt you? which was a waste of time
Why do you think that?

waste of money to replace the obviously damaged knock sensor?
so what? leave the damaged one on then?  >:(

you dont seem to be explaining yourself very well and talking in riddles as usual

Repair the cable, like was suggested by many members on your recent thread. Simples. Free (aside from 5p worth of solder and heatshrink). I would have thought, with your hobby, this was easy, run-of-the-mill stuff. Surely you're always fixing cables that have got snagged/caught/cut/damaged or just gone plain faulty?

As explained to you on several occasions, you have a constant vac applied to the HBV. Or did when you brought it up here for something else to be fixed. Only it had got too dark to start taking gloveboxes out. So, *IF* its the same fault as you had then, then the glovebox needs to come out to investigate why the solenoids are not allowing it to drop the vac. Maybe its a different fault now, maybe you fixed that problem?

Sometimes, a little more listening, and a whole lot less "excitement" will make things much, much clearer ;)

did you not see the condition of the damn cable?

i think for £12, buying a new cable isnt a big deal really is it?
and my Music isn't my Hobby, it happens to be my "job"
luckily, i buy DECENT cables, so in 12 years, i`m still using the same cables

as i have stated so many many times before, i`m NOT mechanically minded, so dont treat me like i "should" know what YOUR talking about okay? all i hear on hear is words from you mate, not "action"

Symes knows EXACTLY what he`s doing and at least he`s pleasant about it, instead of being big headed and sarcastic

weren't you the one that's knocked his Omega many times before? only to have been proven WRONG many times lol!

just to remind you, i play Piano, Keyboards and sing for a living, and although i`m good with my hands, i`m not mechanically minded

i`m bored now!

Behind glovebox to the right are the two vac solenoids as in pic, one could be dodgy, as they`re interchangeable has this been tried?
black vac rubber pipes = hbv
black/blue rubber = recirc flap

Having met a few Musicians, and having a few in the family, this ALLL sounds fairly normal to me Wayne.

It's a bit like teaching us lot to play a musical instrument. We'd be fe@king hopeless. ;D

Stick with it, you'll get the old girl back on track. Progress made thanks to Symes. :y

My apologies, I thought it was an evening/weekend hobby, not your full time job. Sorry  :-[
Most musicians I know, would think nothing of repairing a bit of coax. Hence the confusion why you were so reluctant.

Its a god damn forum. What else can I give other than words? I'm shit hot with computers, but buggered if I can make arms spring from your computer and fix your car. If I could, I wouldn't be here, I'd be on a big yacht.

And if you recall, I have fixed your car before, when you came here. And offered to assist you on Friday evenings when I was often in Horspath. But you thought your local mechanic was the dogs 'dangle berries', and Castrol Oil must be better than anything else available.

You can lead a horse to water...

Never said he wasn't. I have had the pleasure of meeting him :)

weren't you the one that's knocked his Omega many times before? only to have been proven WRONG many times lol!
Nope, never knocked his car. I did (privately) ask if his LPG conversion was certified, as I could see a couple of places where it wouldn't meet COP11. Then we chuckled together when mine started smelly of LPG ;D. But never knocked his car. Ever.

Proven wrong? On several occasions. Nobody is always right. Happy to admit it. But I think the diagnostic steps I give on OOF are 99% sound.

Swap the recirc one with the HBV one

HBV? and how much are they anyway, the genuine ones?
around £35 from VX.
Don`t pay those prices for solenoids, if you do need one/two, drop me a PM

Wayne - I'll repeat my offer, I'm always willing to look at it. Whether its the original fault, or a different one.

Unfortuantely, due to a fairly serious car accident a few months ago, it takes me a little longer to do fiddly jobs, so we'd need to plan something, and doing it on a Friday evening in Horspath is impossible given my problems - it would be dark too soon.
