okay, i`ll go get some Coolant tomorrow and a HBV from Vauxhall from Swindon depot

i`m in no rush for heating fix as for some reason, if i press the 2 buttons on the climate control to RESET, sometimes
(and i say sometimes) the HOT comes back for the heating, and when that dont work, if i turn the engine off and back on, voila!
i then get heat, until i turn it back to cold and then hot, and then the problem reoccurs  >:(

its a bit messed up aint it?   :-X

To prove it is still the same fault, here is a test I think you *may* be able to do.

Find the HBV (in a fiddly location at back of engine), and pull the vac pipe off it.  See if that improves heating.

I need my beauty sleep now - lots of it ;D, but if you need extra info, I'm sure members can guide you on this easy, but fiddly task :)

Wayne - unless I've missed something, the HBV isn't faulty? No point changing if its not faulty.

i`l ask Symes as ive forgotten again!!  lol

i think the vac pipe was taken off and heating then came back, but then when turnt to cold and back to hot, the heat wouldn't return!

The HBV is there to allow heat to either flow through the cabin heater, or bypass it.

The idea being that when you need cooler air, it bypasses the heater.

Its vacuum controlled, and either on or off. From memory, no vacuum applied (such as vac pipe disconnected), hot engine coolant is fed through cabin heater matrix, thus you should get heat (albeit blended with cool air to get the right vent temps). From memory, vac applied (your fault you had 2 or 3 years back), the coolant bypasses the cabin heater matrix, and no heat.

Hope that helps explain why we are trying some tests before spending cash :)

TBH, HBV failures beyond the leaking problem that plague them, are rare.

agreed BUT sometimes they have diafram problems which means they dont work-encountered before so can happen otherwise as said before will have to strip out to check solenoids
