front drivers seat belt...
« on: 31 August 2012, 01:08:04 »

Hi, I have had a problem which has just started over the past week with my drivers seat belt. Sometimes it locks when i try to pull it out to fit and at the same time it does'nt seem to want to retract. After a few minutes gently tugging the belt it moves ok but feels lumpy. This is not a constant problem with the belt jamming, it just happens occasionaly, but it still does'nt work as smoothly as it should. I have read posts on the forum about seat belt problems and one mentions taking off a trim panel on the door post to access the mechanism and clean it. It didn't say which which panel to unclip, the top panel where the belt passes through the height adjuster or the bottom panel. Is the seat belt mechanism bolted at the bottom of the pillar or near the top? Is it just a case of peeling back the rubber trims down the door pillar and unclipping either panel ? I have some foam cleaner i have "borrowed" from work to try first and I don't want to damage a panel trying to get to it.
Thanks,
Robbo.
