OK, I understand you can't quote but perhaps a ballpark figure.....

My Garage flat roof needs replacing, to be honest it has needed doing for the 13 years we have lived in the house..

To do a proper job it needs new boards and felt, garage is basically double length 60's size the latter half only being 3/4 width, the 'workshop end'......

When I got home tonight next door are getting an extension flat roof done in fiberglass, we got the flyer through the door some time ago and I did do some research on the internet.  I have asked him to give me a quote, but despite having a nice looking van there was something in his replies that had me doubting his ability to do a bigger job...

To compare is anyone able to give me a ballpark cost to do a traditional re board and felt?.......

not sure of the cost difference but i know the fibre glass is the better and stronger option and it will last heck of a lot longer

Why not put a small pitch roof on and use something like this http://www.cladco.co.uk/roof-insulation.htm Thatis the insulated version and more expensive, I used non insulated and did it myself. I reckon it will outlive me and thatis good enough

Can't help with the cost of a regular roof, but my folks had a 'glass roof put on a double-length, single-width garage last year - I can enquire as to what they paid for that, if you like, so you know if your quotes are in the ball park..

just checked that out pretty fair price i would say normally find they are a load of tosh but very good that one

the last quote for a single garage for a client i did other work for so not my quote but a 'roofer' was 3k  with 3 layer felt hot bitumen and new boarding.think he made a healthy rip off profit on that one

Don't think my parents paid much more than that for the fibreglass - and that was with 50% of the beams being replaced, new boards and the 'glass top on a double long

I had mine done about a year ago - 35' x 10' - including new boards - £700  (cash in hand)

Dunno when our garage was done on the family home but remember it having 2 felt roofs from being built in 71 to the glass one arround the early 80's (Garage and utility room) think one was a re board as well. My Dad got pee'd off and had it reroofed (Again)(boards and fibre glass) and its still going strong He passed away 1982, only work done to it has been since is PVC facia's and guttering to replace the woodwork.

The one thing I do remeber when the glass roof was done that it was raised slightly along one side to stop standing water.
