Noticed today that my exhaust is starting to rot at the very end of the middle pipes just before it meets the back box, I pipe already has a hole and the other is catching up pretty quick by looks of it. Are there any particular brands that are recommended and likewise any I should really avoid?

For DIY, Eternal seem to be best bet. Will be around £100 for all 3 parts (you will need all 3). Don't bother with fitting kit, get that locally if required (some bits will be)

Generally quicker and easier to change the whole thing than trying to separate a rusty back box

I was offered a full stainless steel exhaust few weeks ago with irmscher back box for £100 iirc, so maybe I'll go see if thats still available!!

. Why fit and pay for  centre sections made of aluminised steel when stainless will last for ever and if its been removed from an omega urm should fit omega again.

Omega is all about cruising, using something like Eternal mid sections, would make everything significantly quieter.

Lot of stainless systems are not actually very well made, some also are very restrictive if they join post cat into a single bigger pipe.

If the system comes out of the two banks into a Y section into a single system then its badly made cowboy system,if its a two pipe system into the irmesher backbox I don't think the slight increase in noise made by stainless centre sections will be noticed,also stainless systems which are fitted/made correctly don't make much more noise but if stainless down pipes are used there is a slight increase in cabin noise.

Yet to see *any* stainless system that is actually quieter than my MV6 with it's Eternal exhaust on. I repeat, *ANY*.

I've helped a fair number of members remove their stainless stuff, and replace with Eternal (or GM in a couple of cases), due to noise.

Most pattern stainless ones I've seen are not well designed, with restrictive bends, and the favourite in the case of the Omega, bodged on to cat sections.

Some people like that artificial noise that stainless creates, a bit like a peg in the spokes of a Raleigh Chopper, which is why all the Saxo Boyz around here choose them. If thats what floats your boat, fair dos. I find it annoying and tiresome.
