CairnGorm Mountain

Just found reference to it on a snowboarding forum i joined:

Firstly it looks fantasic, it must be seasonal?? Yet i found no reference to it.

They do coures from this school:

Prices are about 50% cheaper than MK, although it is a lot further away!  

My question is, it looks all to good to be true!?

Lots more 'summer' pictures there without snow.

I am confused, is there snow there all year around?  :-/

Looking at the webcam there is snow right now , it will all depend on the weather at what time of year you are thinking of going , believe it or not but sometimes we even get warm weather up here so i imagine the snow would disappear !! , brownie point though , there are some $hit hot roads for driving the Omega ( legally off coarse   )

Maybe, but i don't fancy driving 8 hours up there

Train - you confirmed how close trains go up that neck of the woods yet??

Yes, snow is generally a winter thing, much higher up in the summer months, sometimes vanishing altogether.

They are still advertising skiing on the local radio network so theres still something there.  can see a goodly ammount of white stuff up north of the Tay from good vantage points near me, so its still a bit chilly.....

About 10 miles away, there is a shuttle bus to the school.

From Glasgow to Aviemore is about 2.5 hours on the train.

Unfortunetly, I do not know enough yet, i need more lessons! so i should really wait until the winter....

Did the same when i went from Banbury to Liverpool, £10 each way.

Book long enough in advance, and singles, works out super cheap.

Depending on how long in advance you have booked, I would perhaps take the precaution of ensuring the wheels on the board can deploy at the touch of a switch.....  

You know the saying up here as regards weather...   If you dont like it, wait 15minutes.  It will soon change....

I will prob wait until the Winter  before i go, i need more practice linking turns!

I can confirm that there was fresh snowfall last weekend and into the early part of the week. Aviemore is about 400m above sea level and than you start climbing into the mountains to the ski resorts. The locals are hoping that this will be one of only a handful of years when they see skiing through to May.
I'm about 45 minutes away from the slopes and about 398m closer to sea level, so I don't see the snow.
