Fluently: English, Icelandic, Faeroese, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish
Get-by: German, Latin.
Need to try-harder: French, Italian, Welsh
An embarassment but still willing to try: Hungarian, Spanish
That's most impressive Debs.
Just out of interest, what's your native language, and did you acquire the other fluent ones through study, or exposure during periods of residence etc.?
How similar are the Nordic/ Icelandic/ Faroese tongues?
My father had a very disrupted education in the 1920's, with no exposure to foreign languages,(except Belfast

), but simply through a lifelong passion for acquiring knowledge, speaks four languages very well, all acquired chiefly from books and radio. He is fanatical about correct pronunciation, and hates imperfect accents. I do envy the ability.
No Esperanto, I notice. Not too difficult, surely?
