Yep.. mind, unless the good lady moves down here soon I might be forced to settle for "anything that does 50mpg" .. petrol is expensive when you get low 20s.. ;D
..I think the honourable member from Bracknell needs Gas. And lots of it. :)

I got a price for a front end kit from Teilo recently; and then spent all my money on petrol  :-[ :-X (well, expensive month really - petrol, hotels, Goodwood etc).. hopefully in a month or two I'll have enough for a front & back end kit for at least one car.

If I could make the Omega return more than 22mpg it'd help, too!  :-[

A grand, along with a couple of busy weekends would see your car gassed and fitted with a proper gearbox ::)

You managed to get hold of him?  :o

I've heard he has limited Stag kits left along with injectors & vaporiser that we know work (with no lag) - What was the cost of the kit? (PM me it if you want)

Using the 2.2 again recently & getting 27mpg on gas, compared to 27mpg on petrol in the 3.2 is quite a saving on the wallet.  :D

Yeah - proper gearbox would help a lot around town.. I wonder how much it'd help on a run, too?

If only I hadn't spent all my grands  :'( :-[

Not a lot, in my opinion. Once the auto box has locked up in top gear, I reckon it's no more lossy than a manual box, and its higher gearing probably gives better fuel consumption on a motorway run anyway.

A fair point - OD plus the long diff make 'top' very long on the 3.2; it certainly revs it's nads off a lot less than the M3 at speed (not that I'd know, occifer  :-[ )

In the process of PMing tunnie about gas as above it struck me - given the cost of a front end kit from Teilo (not that I know precisely what that includes) plus a tank from somewhere, odds & sods and getting it certified.. I reckon I could pick up an entire 2.2DTi for less than the cost of LPG and be getting 30-40mpg off the bat. And if I'm lucky like a friend of mine, be running it on all sorts of crap (I know, I know, fragile diesel pump etc - but he's up to ~100k on the clock now having done two thirds of it's life on WVO, SVO, all the old sump oil from our collective cars, etc.. then again he does have the luck of the Irish!)

I recall a pleasurable evening at a curry house with the OP, I'm sure after that, he had plenty....

;D I'm still waiting for an invite to the famed and oft-talked-about Tiffins.. I seem to pass on a weekly basis now ;) granted usually a bit early or a bit late to be going for a curry! I don't think they're open at midnight ;D

I agree with first bit, not sure if I do with 2nd bit.  If were only talking a couple/3 of hundred rpm at 80, I reckon its going to be negligible.

I did 167 miles in that Insignia in 5th, not 6th, at about 140kph, and it made no difference to MPG.

I reckon you'd just get in, if you didn't fanny around deciding on what to order. I've often rolled in at 11:30pm, no issues.

We'll have to sort an evening with a few local OOFers :y, even if its a "night before" one of your trips up :y
