need to remove a rounded transit sump plug!

I have some and have to say....I have never mangaged to remove anything with them yet!

Note, they are cheaper on ebay!  

Note also that I always try all the other methods first i'e' chisel and hammer etc.

LOL...tried that too!,also mole grips,stilsons,whackingtapping a 12mm socket over it!

You will have to take the sump off and drill it out.  I had the same problem and tried everything including a bit of heat!

A bit iffy with a tank full of oil sat round it!

If it wont shift with a hammer and chisel then the irwn bolt extractors wont work.

yes used them on a deisel transit sump nut may be same job i did use a good pair of grips first then brought irwin tools and worked used them on rover 620 down pipe nuts(also rounded off) and they worked best tool i bought.

ive got a ryobi impact driver, its real good. paid 69 for mine, theve gone up, batteries are xtra, i can get all my torque bits and sockets on them on a adapter. well worth the money being a carpenter

could you not drill a hole through the plug as near size to the thread and then try to get it off,

seriously i'd considered buying some - did have some stud extractors years ago (drill bolt/stud then basicly a revers tap to unwind) they all snapped over the years though

I left the ball in his court with it really as i didn't want to keep trying to remove it and knacker it altogether.Had a text from him tonight and he's told me that he's had a nut welded to it,unsure whether that will work or not,i'll let you know tomorrow :-/

Should have tried to remove it as soon as the nut was welded on as the heat from the welding would have helped, its a method I have used a few times at work in the past with success.
