At the moment, the fuel economy on my 2ltr auto is pants   It's been averaging 22mpg on LPG for a mixture of town and motorway runs! On the trip to Birmingham, the best it got was 26mpg!! I've booked it in for an lpg system service as I don't know when it was last done and the specialist reckons it could be a faulty diaphram. Hopefully things will improve after next Monday or I'll buy something more economical..... like a 4 ltr Jaguar  

On the plus side, the Omega drove beautifully on the 750 mile day trip to the NEC, very comfy, quiet and plenty room for all the goodies we bought at the Classic car show there

Since I've updated my gearbox, my fuel economy has plummeted, as its now so much more fun

Back to sensible driving before my wallet hurts too much

Pretty poor - my MV6 had averaged 27mpg over last 250 miles (160 of which a trip to Derby, rest all local)

Maybe I should just stick a MV6 badge on the back  
At least with the lpg I'm getting more or less double miles for the same amount of money but hopefully a service of the system will see the figures increase a good bit.

Strange that Parkers don't list fuel economy for the estates  :-/ Still I'd reckon on an average of 30mpg on petrol which allowing for the drop on lpg, should still give high twenties on average and well into the thirties on a long run.
My old Granada Scorpio 2ltr hatch auto used to manage 37 mpg on a run!

Im afraid that seems to be about the norm, my 2.2 does 15mpg in town and goes upto 24mpg on a run
Comp reckons av of just over 20mpg.

You can see how much more the engine strains when on lpg.......drive it at a constant speed uphill (if poss, it shows up more) with the comp set to show inst fuel consumption on petrol, then repeat on lpg......you will find the figure drops by quite a few mpg.

Ah, thanks for the other link, I was too lazy to look properly myself   They've got the 2ltr GLS auto estate doing an average of 27 mpg.  It seems like the Omegas are a bit like the old Ford Cortinas - you used to get better economy from the 2.3 than you did from the 1.6! Less stress on the bigger engine I supose.

Thanks for the comparison TD, Mine isn't posh enough to have a computer, hell the GLS was lucky to get leccie windows on the front I think  

I know I'll get less on gas than petrol, I should really fill the fuel tank and do an accurate petrol check, it's just the thought of wasting all that money on petrol that's stopping me from doing it! We'll see what happens after Monday's service & I'll let you know if there's any improvement.

I used to get regular low 20s out of a 2.0 Auto on petrol, towing it was thirstier than the 2.6

26mpg on gas is pretty good - equivalent to around 60 on petrol cost

My old 2.0 auto estate averaged 25mpg knocking about the country lanes etc where i live, and once on a nice clear 150 miles round motorway trip (at around abou 65 mph steady) i got 40 mpg, however taking the family to Cornwall in it for a week averaged about 29 mpg

Mine was showing 28MPG the other day but now shows 26.7MPG not sure if this is good or just a dodgy display, 97P 2.0 CD Manual.
