Really sorry to hear this, but at least she's got medical help in time and meningitis is being considered. I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

fingers crossed for her - I have come across several situations recently where the NHS adopt an ultra safe policy to try and ensure the best outcome.

for example - the granddaughter of a friend was rushed in with suspected meningitis but thankfully after tests was not the case. Although it is upsetting for familiy in first instance it elevates the attention level to very high rather than what MAY have happened in past where a lesser problem was presumed but in some cases this resulted in disasater. The current policy clearly has higher NHS costs but less chance of error - a price worth paying.

Another case involving a friend's daughter started with NHS suspecting secondary lung cancer which it turned out not to be - this was a nightmare for the family for some days until receipt of results. She was of course given priority attention - again outcome good.

Hope all is ok
