Drivers of commercial vehicles in the Met area

Please note that, as of today, the Met Police can demand roadside payment of fines - on pain of having your vehicle immobilised and towed away.

Don't know what is said as I refused..............surly the last thing the Police want to get involved in is collecting cash..... :-\ :-\ :-\

after speaking with an officer of Thames Valley the other day only certain officers can take the money. I think i read some where that portugal have chip and pin machines in some of there police cars is that our next step?  :-X

“This legislation permits an officer to request roadside monetary deposits from offending motorists who are not resident in the UK, or UK residents who do not have a suitable permanent address for the service of a summons,” said a police spokesman.

Sadly, probably inevitable given the number of drivers with foreign or false plates who just disappear into the woodwork after giving false details.

At least there's a choice now. Cough up or you're off the road.

they have been able to do this on the continent for ages - about time we could do the same

eg .... AFAIK they can seize your car in France if you don't have a Breathalyser - or is it 2 - but probably an exaggeration

Good, a hands on approach. Rather than, as Kev often says, a load more laws law obiding people have to follow, and law brakers continue to ignore anyway.
