tailgaters
« on: 06 October 2012, 22:57:46 »

Tailgaters,........tailgaters with a death wish.
I`ll set the scene for you
Heavy traffic, small crappy roundabout, so I’m waiting for my turn to go.
Beep.......Who what where?
Beep....... a new looking fiesta is right up my chuff.
Now the driver is shouting.... "go on then - effing well move it"
Damn, did I fiddle the gear selector pass neutral into R ?
Lots of beeping & shouting now.
Oh it`s clear to go & I appear to be towing something.
I tow this fiesta for about a mile, I clearly see he`s 4 up. Set of lights coming up & I want the left filter lane. oh goody so does my new friend.
Only he`s gonna beat me to it, even if it means driving past me on the inside with 2 wheels on the pavement.  But hang on a minute the lights go to red. I’ve now got a fiesta level with my back door & perched up on the kerb. Lady gaga is now drowning out my pooch. He`s sweetly singing along to the track being played very loudly from the car inching forward.  Mr Fiesta has now got a plan B, full left lock tyres screaming & bypass me & the lights completely by driving around on the pavement.
I look at my Jack russel duffing up his teddy bear on the back seat ….I swear that dog can read my mind.

A Jeep with a tow bar helps prevent such things, plus my, if it is not my fault attitude, bring it on... :D :D

This post takes me back the the early 90's I drove a new Mini Cooper and an ex Military Land Rover series 3, double bumpers, in Hertford, full of bankers and snobs...imho..... I noticed a completely different approach to other drivers depending on which I was driving, no one took on the Land Rover.... :D :D

I can testify to that, I once hit the back of a Mil landrover (navy flavour) The mark 4 escort I was driving at the time just crumpled on impact.

I've come to the conclusion that people tailgate me because they are trying to get close enough to ask me to slow down, so I respond by doing as they wish. ;)

Besides, I don't want anything in front of me that might make me brake in case retard behind doesn't have fast enough reactions. Doubly so in the Westfield, because it isn't exactly built for rear impacts, and can outbrake most things on the road.

If its not icy ::)

It weighs the best part of FA, and I bet you've specc'd suitable brakes, unlike the 'tard in the chavved up Saxo following an inch from bumper ;D

But on the flip side, I should be allowed RPGs to dispense with the increasing number of 'tards who drive so catastrophically slowly, when conditions dictate driving at speed limit is more than safe...

Yeah, like the Sh1troen Picasso that Ex Taxi Al and I were following on Friday night. Nice fast B road, can keep up plenty of speed along this route, I thought, because I know it's curtains if the cooling fans fire up with no alternator. No. We get stuck behind said idiot who didn't exceed 30 MPH as I'm watching the gauge creep up to 95. >:( If I see someone in a Sh1troen I know, by virtue of their choice of car, that they'll usually be trouble. :-X

My attitude to tailgaters is the closer they get the slower I go, they eventually get the message though it takes some of them a little while longer, the seriously hate it when there is a long line of cars coming from the opposite direction so they are unable to overtake.  ::)

Pity it's illegal - I would love to wire the reverse lights so I could put them on in traffic whilst I rev the engine, and turn the brake lights off with regards to tail gaters.  ::)
