WTF!  What the heck to we pay our RFL for then?  Even more scandalous when you consider that many of the charges may not be legit!  >:(

Problem is most bills would be passed on to the insurance and they would be paid without any query. Another reason for the Insurance Premium to go through the roof. >:(

Exactly! Send an invoice, sexed up to imply it has some legal authority, and hope someone already traumatised by the incident just pays up, or that their insurers do. >:(

I guess take photos if you have such an incident and see them in court. Easy to say, not so easy to do in the heat of the moment, of course, when that's the last thing on your mind.

If a traveller was making bogus charges like this, he would very quickly be in court for theft and quite rightly so.

Personally, I think the police should investigate and if the find the same the MD and / or the guilty parties of the company should likewise be charged, but I won't be holding my breath.

The law is meant to be the same for all, but these days it is almost always not.  >:( >:( >:( >:(

a mate of mine had a car trailer start to wag on the A1,
he spun and kissed the barrier,

2 weeks later he got a bill for £1800, the barrier still has the marks where he touched it,

he paid as it turned out he didnt have a trailer licence. ::)

No such thing.  ;) Just depends on when you passed your test as to what weight you can tow.  :y
