Having watched on TV the series about the NZ and Australian customs (sad, but I was very bored at the time) I have reached a few conclusions.....
They appear to have an overenthusiastic penchent for asking whether a passengers asshole contains anything other than crap and that they seem to derive great pleasure in applying a fine at every opportunity they have. They then seem to want you to crap while being watched by at least two officers.  Anyone with the constant interest in an asshole must surely be on the way, or might already be one of those who are gender challenged or a plain and simple bendy............
I can also mention the big headed attitude that they are right even when they were plainly wrong in their assumptions who act like little gods and wannabe dictators.
Perhaps the Customs Officers in this country ought to start treating all of their incoming tourists in the same manner and going completely overboard, including full strip searches with the bendy over bit if their passports indicate that they are customs officers.
When you consider that all of their ancestry is that they are the offspring of criminals deported there as a life term punishment because their own country did not want them and it makes me think that it is their way of extracting revenge.
They worry about seeds etc being brought in? How in hell do they stop migratory birds from crapping infected seeds then? How do they prevent airborn seeds being blown there during storms?
Australia and NZ....you can stick em as destinations if this is their way of greeting visitors who provide revenue for their country when even the innocent receive the same treatment as the guilty without any apology or compensation for the embarrassment of a search that was totally negative.
If their own country is so great why are so many of them living in ours??

Its a TV programme, like the tosh we make here like Road Wars. Makes out the staff are complete knob jockeys. Reality is they are just after ratings, and they follow specific staff who are happy to play up to the camera.

The Aussies have given us cold beer, proper cars and they can cook a mean steak They also stand up to be counted when it matters, inspite of what they might like us to think...

All of which adds up to a whole lot more than many places nearer to home

What credit? Overly cold beer (sorry its lager, a pretendy beer) spoils it flavour, any fool can chuck a bit of meat on a BBQ and as for the cars they are in the main vauxhalls with a different badge. What exactly have they given us that is any good apart from a good belly laugh at this type of behaviour which makes look foolish and arrogant?
As for standing up when it needs to count....Are you denegrating what our service men and women do both past and present?
What a lot of idiotic paranoid idiots they look. If they ever had cause to look in my bum I would make certain that they got a high velocity solid present in their eye 
Really....on the last one a customs officer kept stating that a passenger had had plenty of time to check her large main suitcase on the plane when everyone and their dog knows that the luggage is kept in the hold and is not accessible to passengers until the reclaim it off the customs hall carousel. Like a brain dead moron he kept repeating the same old statment until it bored me and I changed channels. I doubt very much that I will be 'tempted' to watch the load of rubbish again because it is not entertaining or informative. It does suceed in portraying their countries as being crammed with goverment employed idiots though!
Do they really not know or care that this how the rest of the world sees them? Woodentops is a description that comes to mind.

Without getting into a row, a good number of fallen allied troops during both world wars were from the antipides,
Gallipoli being just one example, this detracts in no way, shape or form what our service personnel have done or continue to do

Sure they can be a bit boorish, but less so than the South Africans, and at least they're not Yanks If we follewed their lead with a regard to immigration and law enforcement, perhaps the green eyed monster would be less prevolent

Looking after the interests of their own country is top of the list of priorities.There could be a link between that and the fact that they are the only significant economy not to have gone into recession in the last five years.
My daughter was working for an Ausralian bank a few years ago and was offered the chance to go and work in Sydney for a year to cover maternity leave.
Much excitement followed, until the HQ in Sydney came back and said that the govt.had put a stop to it,as they would have to prove there was no possibility of the job being covered by an Australian national.
Not one to be put off by such trivial matters,she later get fed up with the industry so off to Heathrow and on a plane to the land of poisonous things she went. She loved the place so much that she didnt want to leave when she was supposed to - so she didnt.
She got away with it for three months,and then immigration caught up with her and politely but firmly told her to book a flight back to blighty within two weeks. Also politely but firmly informed her she was banned from entering the country for a minimum of three years.
I just wish we could have whoever is in charge over there,put in charge over here.

Whenever I've seen these shows I'm always impressed by the thoroughness, and straightforward manner of the staff.  I think the UK would do well to bring some of the senior people from those countries over here to teach our lot.

Never been to Australia or New Zealand, but all the people I know that have, had a very enjoyable time, many have not wanted to leave.

There were many who made their way to the UK at their expense to join up and with the hunting traditions in the new world countries many were very fine shots.

I lived in Australia for a while in the late 90's and I was shocked at the power that the unions had in the workplace compared to here.  Closed shops for example were common, but it was almost impossible to join the union unless you knew someone or somehow already had the job.     They never had a Maggie Thatcher!! 

I'm not sure what it's like there now, but a friend who recently returned after living there for 5 years said that they are even more obsessed with 'elf & safety, petty rules & regs, equality, diversity, and political correctness than we are here!! 

That said I had a great time while I was there!  I was young, had no responsibilities, traveled all over and I never had a problem finding a job when I needed one!!    I was gutted when my visa ran out and I had to leave, but strangely I've never had any desire to return....
