A good tip for finding out what any part looks like is to search for it on eBay.

close, but no cigar !
No, i am getting some laser cutting done at the end of the week and was going to get some flanges cut in stainless, but i need a template from the gasket. At worst i will have to take the old exhaust manifold off tonite and hope the gasket comes away in-tact. I have to get it drawn up then, which doesnt take to long

Hm...Unless I have got the wrong end of the stick why stainless? It will only go funny colours with the heat and be a lot noisier and there will be a hell of a lot more heat under the lid. Sounds to be a step too far for safety for me. If fitted correctly then the cast iron type fitted as OEM should not give problems. It is usually incorrect fitting, alignment and torqueing that causes the problem.
My old 2.5 had done 188K before the head gaskets went and when dismantled for repair the exhaust joints were still near perfect and when the manifolds were taken off there was not a sign of a blow. That translates as no distortion at all.....

hmmm...some members might be interested in manifolds... I don't suppose the routing of the headers will be even remotely usefull on the standard car, actually no scratch that. They won't at all will they.

Good plan (for his kit car project) though. ;)

unfortunately, you are correct. its for the kit. However the flanges would be universal, you'd just need to make up the pipework away for the 'standard' car.
So if anybody wants a set ? !
The manifold pipwork on the kit will be significantley different as the pipework will need to come out horizontally and then turn down. All in time, will become apparrent.

Stainless is good for exhausts as it doesn't rot and its extremely durable and hard wearing, there is some thermal discolouration, but i think that adds to the character. You can also run a slightly thinner wall, so its lighter.

I've seen laser cut stainless exhaust flanges for a V6 from a quick google search.
I shall probably be needing a pair when I finally start on my V6 engined Standard 12 hot rod project in the new year.
There is also a current EBay listing for steel flanges; it might be worth asking if they will do them in steel?

They are way expensive on Ebay, the people i use are a fraction of the cost.

all sorted, and drawn up. The standard exhaust manifolds look rubbish and they are heavy. definately an improvement to be had.
