Seen worse - certainly would not describe it as a dog - just because the owner "misdescribed" it as an Elite ???

And why knock his donation and suggest he shouldn't be driving?  Some people are small minded :(

It doesn't look too bad in the pictures tbh but what you can't see in the pictures is how it is mechanically  :y .. I didn't knock his donation's or suggest he shouldn't be driving  ???

(just in my opinion it should have been listed as spares or repairs someone could travel hundreds of miles based on his description and be real disappointed on arrival  :-\  it wasn't my intention to cause war like posts on oof regarding this :) just thought i'd share my thoughts on it )

You have to remember a 4 pot can sound very rough when cold, if

a) it has a pattern cat (they sound awful)
b) cracked manifold. (father T's has one, stone count it sounds awful until it warms up)
c) cracked exhaust manifold gasket.

All of the above make them sound dreadful, mines done 157k so far so good does not sound like that, but may sound rough from 100k onwards.

The engine was over warm before he started it and when he did start it the temp shot up near to 100c within a few seconds
(as said in post #1 in a round about way without the full explanation which is needed now)

I know how a 4 pot sounds when cold i have one and i know what you mean ;)

Again, nothing wrong here. You stop after engine has been up to temp, it will get hot. Start it afterwards it will be very hot, but should drop within a few minutes as the stat opens and fans do their job.

You appear determined to slag off this car, which is a worrying trend of OOF of late. (Not you, but others calling people thick/stupid) The forum has always been to help any member of a car in any state, it can be covered in rust with doors dropping off. But we will continue to help & not slag off a car or member personally.

If its been clocked, then thats fine. I've done the same with an Elite which had over 250k miles on it, being advertised with near 100k. But just because what you think of its condition, I think that's a little unfair, as its nothing a good clean, hoover & t-cut could not sort out  :)
